A new lay out plan is forwarded, for the barracks
at dun Club Hill, adapted to the new organization of a
battalion in five companies, each of four platoons and &
headquarters. Among other improvements over the previous
plan (War Office letter 30th July 1914 Hong Kong 16/1320
F.W.8.) it provides a far better parade ground, a better
and more central regimental institute, a better sergeants
mese with tennis court, a better officers mess,
spaces are allotted for a cinema hall (very
necessary ) men's aḍuçation rooms (essential) tennis court
and social hell for women, and motor car garages: as well
as for a school for all the military children in thẹ
neighbourhood.
a single-line elevation of a barrack block, and
plan of barrack room witn annex, and dining room, &c., are
also forwarded.
10. A lay out plan for one R‚è‚4, barracks at My
Foint and Elliot battery is also forwarded.
It is suggested that in future these sites should
be referred to as the Belchers Barrack site.
11. A very rough scheme for utilizing the King's Park
area is added; but pending the provision of detailed maps
of King's Park and of the owloon Peak sites, which I have
aaked the Colonial Government to prepare, no further
progress can be made.
This scheme provides for all those shown as
"Total Kowloon Feninsula" in paragraph 8 except such as
provided for in the Battalion barracks at Gun Club Hill.
As much as possible of the lower levels has been left vacant, for use as a golf oourse for the United Services
Recreation Club.
